Devou Park Engagement Photos | Shelby & David

Devou Park Engagement Photos

We both have a certain kind of fondness for people with red hair, especially for children. So you can imagine how jealous we are that Shelby, being a red head, will potentially have red headed babies. Rudy does have some red in his beard, so here’s hoping!

We met up with Shelby & David in Devou Park where we took advantage of the beautiful city skyline. It was surprising to us, but neither of them had been there before. We then headed to a super secret location that we won’t tell anyone where it is. We want to keep it just for us, and whoever else just happens to find it.

These two are a blast to be around. Quirky, funny, slightly goofy…our kind of people. After shooting a beautiful shot where we, in Tammi’s words, “Created the sun,” it suddenly started to pour! So we scattered to our cars while Shelby & David used one of our photo umbrellas as a rain umbrella. We headed to Reality Tuesday’s for a quick coffee until the rain stopped, then headed back out!

All in all, it was a fantastic shoot. The rain wasn’t ideal, but it gave us a chance to go over their wedding day a bit more and learn just how much more we love these two. Can’t wait for their big day!

The Banks Cincinnati Engagement Photos | Cassie & Steve

The Banks Cincinnati Engagement Photos

It’s hard to imagine anyone being cuter than Cassie & Steve. These two alone are super nice and attractive, but combine them together and you have a force to be reckoned with. We met up with these two at The Banks in downtown Cincinnati. This area has changed quite a bit over the years and changes a little more each day. And it just so happened to be a perfect spot for Cassie & Steve’s engagement session. Especially given its close proximity to the Paul Brown Stadium, which is where Steve popped the question!

Steve had it all planned out. A mutual friend who happened to work at the stadium would take them on a guided tour. Then after seeing the entire stadium would finally lead them onto the field, specifically the 50 yard line. Once there, Steve popped the question and Cassie said yes! Well actually, she didn’t say yes. But it was an implied yes. :)

Either way we are happy for them and so very happy they chose us to be a part of their big day!

Findlay Market Engagement Photos | Andrea & Chris

Findlay Market Engagement Photos

Isn’t it interesting that dating sites used to be sort of taboo but now they aren’t just very popular,  but a proven method of finding your spouse? Well, we should say the reputable sites like eHarmony aren’t taboo. There probably are some sites that aren’t very reputable. Andrea & Chris are one of the happy couples that met through eHarmony, and in fact, had it not been for the auto-renew functionality of the site, they may have never met. Andrea was over the site at the point that she realized that the auto-renew had given her another month, and that’s exactly when Chris reached out to her. While every couple we work with has a unique story on how they met, this one just has something special. And it fits them so well because they are something special too!

We loved working with them on their engagement session in historic Findlay Market. We were in a rather goofy mood that day for whatever reason. But it didn’t matter, we had a blast goofing around and posing these two ridiculously attractive people around the market, and later at Washington Park. They just fit so well together. As soon as they arrived we were reminded of how good they looked together. But what we didn’t know much about was their personalities. When we first meet our couples it tends to be a little more business like; talking about policies, pricing, showing examples of our work, etc. So the engagement session is the first time we get to see how they interact with one another. And although it took a little pushing during the first pose to get them how we wanted them and how it looked best, in no time they had it down and were being all cute and stuff. It was almost like we were by standers watching them on a date most of the time.

But after a little while we got a ton of great pictures of a great couple. So after we got to meet a ridiculously cute dog together, we parted ways. But it won’t be too long until we are doing it all again on their wedding day!

Downtown Covington Engagement Photos | Nicole & Dave

Downtown Covington Engagement Photos

Although it could have been a bit warmer, Nicole & Dave’s engagement session went off without a hitch. They dressed well, posed well, took direction well, and well, were just a pleasure to be around. (Did we say “well” too many times there?)

Nicole & Dave met one night while at Longworth’s in Mount Adams. Which is a coincidence seeing as though Amanda & Brandon who had their first date there also appeared on our blog today! After some time dating, they are taking the plunge and are excited for their October wedding, and so are we! We can relate to these two very easily. Nicole is a nurse and so is Rudy’s sister. So we have often times heard the plight of the nurses of the world and all they have to deal with. On the other side, Dave is a graphic designer so he shares in many of Rudy’s frustrations doing work for commercial clients. It’s a pleasure really just like being a nurse, but sometimes it can definitely weigh on you!

Nicole & Dave chose to have their engagement session in downtown Covington. So being as our shop is in downtown Covington, we met them there and walked around our neighborhood for a little bit snapping all sorts of pictures of them. They even got the chance to meet Victor & Cole, good friends of ours who are also Covingtonians!

But after just a little bit of time, it was time to say goodbye until their big day! Hopefully these pictures will hold them over until then. :)

Elements Event Center | Alex & Jon {3.21.15}

Elements Event Center

Alex & Jon are nerds. We mean that in the most affectionate way possible because we too are nerds. But really, isn’t everyone a nerd in some way? We first met Alex by herself when she came to our studio. At her original consult with us, she was hilarious. Although we can’t specifically remember what was uttered during that meeting, we knew when she left that we wanted to shoot her wedding!

Alex & Jon had both their wedding and reception at Elements Event Center in Sharonville, OH. Elements has an interesting location, but one that is very convenient to lots of areas to shoot. But for sanity’s sake, Alex & Jon chose to do all of their photos at Elements itself. We often times have people concerned about what will happen if we have to shoot inside rather than outside due to weather. They are afraid that it will be too dark and gross looking inside, but with our nerdy photography knowledge, we are able to take awesome picture inside without any issues. We did manage to do some photos outside in an area that to the naked eye would look bizarre, but with our nerdy-ness and know-how, turned out to be some beautiful lighting for their photos.

Alex & Jon had a more intimate wedding than we typically see, but we are always big fans of. Although we like the big party style weddings where there are hundreds of people on the dance floor at any moment, small weddings remind us of our own wedding. Surrounded a small amount of family and friends, Alex & Jon were able to have fun on their wedding day interacting with everyone quickly rather than spending their entire reception going from table to table to table. Since they had more time, they both were able to dance together on several occasions. Which is good, because these two swing dance. Yes, swing dance! We were promised some swing dancing at their final consult, and we weren’t disappointed!

We want to say congratulations to Alex & Jon and their friends and family. We are so happy that you were our first wedding of the season and can’t wait to see what your future’s hold! :)

Mount Adams Engagement Photos | Amanda & Brandon

_88B9226-Edit

We are back! After the winter time slow season that we experience every year, where we stay inside and get so very bored, the weather is finally breaking and it’s time to start shooting again. And that means it’s time to start blogging again, too! And what a great way to start out our blogging this season than with the ever so wonderful, Amanda & Brandon. These two potentially have broken the record on longest engagement. They met and booked us last year and they aren’t slated to be wed until the summer of 2016. So for any one complaining about a long engagement, they win. :)

We met these two on St. Gregory street in Mount Adams. Mount Adams is a hill just outside of downtown Cincinnati where any given weekend you will find loads of young adults visiting the bar and food scene there. So how fitting that this adorable couple had their first date in Mount Adams. And furthermore, what better place to have their engagement session with us than the neighborhood where it all started!

These two are wildly attractive. Individually they are rather good looking, but together…Sheesh! They are an attractive super power couple that can’t be stopped! :) But beyond their physical appearance, they are awesome. They are both animal lovers. Brandon is studying to be a vet, and they have a fluffy orange cat that could almost be our cat’s twin. Amanda has a matter of fact nature about her which we admire greatly and think is super funny. There were a few awesome phrases that were spoken during the session that we will just keep to ourselves. But trust us, they were FUNNY.

We can’t wait to see these two again, but for now we will just keep looking forward to Amanda’s Instagram feed of her cat, which isn’t too far off of Tammi’s feed either. :)

Union Terminal Engagement Photos | Cailtin & Matt

Union Terminal Engagement Photos

It was cold. Blog done……..Okay, so we are going to talk about other stuff here, but honestly, it was SO cold. And poor Caitlin & Matt stood outside without jackets for like 80% of this session! We had a nice routine going by the end of the session though. We’d take a picture or two, they’d put back on their coats. Picture, coats. Pictures, coats. And so on and what have you.

Caitlin & Matt came to us because of one of our all time favorite couples, Jess & Andrew, who were married last year at the Pinecroft Mansion in Cincinnati, OH. Back in high school, Caitlin & Jess were great friends. We imaging that these two weren’t each others only friends however, as both are very nice and fun to be around. We will say we haven’t spent as much time with Caitlin as we have Jess, but we did work pretty quickly during their engagement session because of the frigid temperatures.

Caitlin & Matt are a true love story. Caitlin, born and raised in the Cincinnati area, decides to go teach English in Germany. Matt, from outside of D.C. decides the same thing. And although both native Americans, they meet in Germany! How cool is that?! So now they are slated to be married and chose us to be their wedding photographers. We couldn’t be more excited.

Their engagement session, held at Findlay Market and at Union Terminal went well, but yes it was cold. Have we mentioned that yet? They took our direction very well, even though our brains were frozen and half of the time couldn’t spit out what we wanted to say. We took lots of photos at both locations in between coat wearing sessions. Only one request however from Caitlin & Matt, a piggy back shot. We were told that all the friends would get it. :)

Congratulations on your engagement Caitlin & Matt and safe travels back to Germany! See you real soon!

Drees Pavillion Wedding | Laura & Eric {1.1.15}

Drees Pavillion Wedding

Although Laura & Eric might hold the record for shortest time between booking us for their wedding and the actual wedding date, which ultimately had to speed up the entire process, it was SO worth it. Not only was their wedding day at the Drees Pavillion in Devou Park awesome, but getting to know these two over the short couple of months has been a real joy to us!

They chose to hold both their ceremony and reception inside of the Drees Pavillion. Having a New Year’s Day wedding is a bit unorthodox but it turned out to be the perfect date. If for nothing else, Eric can’t forget their anniversary! 😉 We arrived on location first, but that was by design. So we took the opportunity to see how the ceremony was going to flow as well as to shoot some of the details of the wedding that were already ready to go. So even though everyone arrived a bit later than expected we were able to capture all we needed to before the ceremony.

Laura & Eric chose to see each other before the ceremony, which allowed them to be a part of their cocktail hour more than most couples who choose not to see one another. So after their very cute and private first look, we took time to take pictures of these two all around the Drees Pavillion. We couldn’t shoot too long outside due to the temperatures, however, so we just used our lighting knowledge to capture beautiful photos of them using window light and artificial light we created. It’s always a bit more challenging but usually WAY more fun, like it was this day.

Their ceremony had a huge focus on God. These two attend church together already and even do weekly bible studies and devotionals with one another. They truly are an inspiration to us in that regard! After the ceremony, and receiving line, we headed outside for just a couple of photos of the downtown skyline lit up at night. It’s rare that we are up in that spot at night, so it’s always a bit more fun! PS…If you have never been to this spot in the city, you are missing out. From there the entire city as well as the Kentucky river cities can be seen. You can see all the way up to Clifton and UC’s campus!

After a long and fun day with Laura, Eric, and their families, it was time to say goodbye. Congratulations Laura & Eric! :)

Hilton Netherland Plaza Wedding | Merritt & Chris {12.27.14}

Hilton Netherland Plaza Wedding

You would be hard pressed to find any two people that are as sweet, genuine, and absolutely wonderful as Merritt & Chris are. Go ahead, try. No matter who you thought of or found at that moment, I would bet a lot of money that they aren’t nicer than Merritt & Chris. It’s like they are made 100% of just niceness. Okay, you get the point, we like them. :)

We met up with Merritt & Chris in their respective rooms at the Hilton Netherland Plaza in downtown Cincinnati. If you aren’t familiar with this hotel, it’s connected to the Carew Tower and is an Art Deco marvel. It’s an old hotel and is completely designed and maintained to be something out of the 1930s. It’s beautiful. Chris and the boys were definitely laid back. When Rudy arrived, they were watching Batman on TV while Chris was finishing up his shower. They were also relieved to find out that we were changing up the plans a bit and having the girls go first. Why? Well as soon as we arrived, we realized they were all ready to go, and that they were antsy to get things started. We were happy to oblige and truthfully we believe that the girls should go first. Simply put, the guys photos don’t take nearly as much time as the girls photos do and if somebody needed to retouch before the ceremony, the girls process is more critical and time consuming.

Anyways, we started with the girls photos all around the hotel and a few outside. It was December after all, so it was a bit chilly! The girls photos went by quickly because they went so well, so it was time to call down the boys. As if to one up the girls, they boys photos went nearly as good! So without any complications, we prepared for the ceremony and sent everyone away to hide before the guests all arrived.

Their ceremony was simple and sweet and featured a string quartet and a building of a cross unity ceremony. This is where Merritt & Chris firmly place Christ as the center of their relationship. Something we completely can get behind!

The reception was to be held in the same room as the wedding, so everyone went upstairs to a cocktail reception, while we took the first photos of the newlyweds! We didn’t take too long, however, as Merritt & Chris were anxious to get to the party. But we made sure to take some beautiful photos of these two around the hotel and even a few outside!

After a great day of photos and a wonderful ceremony, it was time for the reception. It too was very elegant. Really the only word to describe these two is “classy”. There really isn’t much more we can say about them. That word fits perfectly! Congratulations Merritt & Chris!

Music Hall Wedding | Danielle & Zach {12.20.14}

Music Hall Wedding

How does the perfect winter wedding go? Look no further than Danielle & Zach’s wedding held at Blessed Sacrament Church in Fort Mitchell, KY and Music Hall in Cincinnati, OH. If we could change one thing about this day, we wouldn’t change a thing. Seriously! Okay, maybe somehow the laws of nature would have been put aside and a December in the Ohio Valley would have a light perfect snow on the ground and falling but while maintaining a 65 degree air temperature. But other than it being a little bit cold, this day went wonderfully.

It all started when Tammi was dropped off at Danielle’s parents home in Northern Kentucky where all the girls were getting ready. She walked in to find a bunch of people dashing around getting ready. But miraculously, and we say “miraculously” because when this happens it is always a miracle, everything was ahead of schedule! This was a good omen for the entire day. Rudy jetted off downtown to shoot a few photos of the boys at their hotel getting ready as well as some inside the hotel itself. The boys were eager to get going if for nothing else for them to get a chance to relax before walking down the aisle. Being a cooperative bunch, they were finished in no time and had plenty of time to chill out in the room, have a drink, and watch some basketball on TV.

The girls were equally as eager and once we started their pictures, everyone was ready and waiting to please! So they all paid attention to us, helped us immensely by being happy and fun, and made it quite a joy to take their pictures. At one point they busted out into the song “Sisters” from “White Christmas”. Ironically, Rudy sings this song in his head each and every time he says “sisters” during the family photos. That’s just a peak into the brain that poor Tammi has to deal with on a daily basis. Just like that, after taking some great photos of the girls, including most importantly some beautiful photos of a spectacularly beautiful winter bride, we were off to the church to get Danielle & Zach hitched!

The ceremony was a full Catholic ceremony. Sometimes we hear our counterparts complain about a long ceremony, but we love it! It gives us a chance to get lots of photos without being rushed. This way we can take our time and deliver beautiful images to our couples! After the ceremony and family photos, it was time to relax for a minute or two with Danielle & Zach in the church for their photos together. The silence of those moments is always striking. After all that happened moments before our couple is now left virtually alone only to realize, “We’re married!”

We headed down to Music Hall for the reception, but not without taking a few quick shots in front of the hall itself. It was very cold at this point so we made this quick for everyone’s sake, but making sure to nail the shots requested. Finally, it was party time! Zach works for the Cincinnati Reds, so as such, has quite a few connections. So who would you think would announce the bridal party into the reception? None other than the Reds announcer Joe Zerhusen! Hearing that voice boom through the hall is something that all their guests will surely remember for a lifetime! But something almost more memorable for us was the surprises in store for the father daughter dance.

Knowing that her father isn’t a dancer, Danielle surprised him with a slideshow of pictures from their lives together. These two and the whole family love looking at old photos, so it was a sweet way to still have a moment to show her love for her daddy. They held each other while looking at the screen of old pictures all throughout Danielle’s life. But little did she know that her father had a surprise of his own. Once the slideshow finished, the MC got on the mic to inform her that her father wrote her a song special for the occasion and that they were now going to dance with each other. I mean, how cute it that?! Kudos dad! Immediately after that song and through the tears she was shedding Danielle exclaimed, “No more surprises!”

It was a great day with these two and we hope to get to see them again very soon. Congratulations Danielle & Zach!
